Mechanical parking

Permitted with conditions in Ahmedabad

What the regulation says

CGDCR 2017 states most parking requirements as a percentage of utilised FSI or of building-unit area, not a bay count (Part II, Reg. 6.15, Table 6.45). Parking is permitted at any floor level above ground and on more basement levels as required, with a vehicular ramp (Reg. 6.15, note 3). A mechanical system has to show it delivers the required parking; agree how its spaces are counted with the Competent Authority.

Conditions to design around

• Requirement is an area share: e.g. flats 20% of utilised FSI; mercantile and hospitality 30% / 40% / 50% by building-unit size; assembly and institutional 50%; industrial 10% (Table 6.45). • Parking permitted at any floor above ground and on more basement levels, with vehicular ramp (Reg. 6.15 note 3). • 50% of visitor parking at ground level. • Mixed use: parking calculated pro rata on FSI consumed by each use.
