Mechanical parking

Permitted with conditions in Bengaluru

What the regulation says

BBMP Bye-law 16(f) permits alternate means of parking such as terrace parking, multi-stage parking and parking silos, subject to NOCs from the authorities. In such cases a clear height of 3.6 m is required in the basement floor, and the space earmarked per car may be determined by the authority.

Conditions to design around

• NOCs from the authorities for alternate parking (Bye-law 16(f)). • 3.6 m clear height in the basement where multi-stage parking is used. • Area earmarked per car for mechanical parking is set by the authority — agree it before design. • Table 13 figures are the bye-law minimum; the BDA RMP 2015 zoning parking table (Table 23) is still being verified and may require more.
